Rebuilding Families & Keeping Girls in School

The food packages play an important role in the reconciliation process. Each scholar receives a food packages for the time off school (holidays) when she goes home. It would be very difficult for a girl who has run away from home to return home empty-handed. A large package of food for the whole family builds a bridge and signals that it is worth going to school instead of being married off. It also creates space for the scholars to concentrate on school instead of dealing with the daily chores around the house and livestock.

When girls escape FGM or forced marriage, returning home empty-handed can be dangerous.
